Weatherman fumes at co-hosts who complain about cold
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WXMI) - Spring hasn't been the greatest so far in Michigan and one on-air meteorologist has been hearing about it.
And he's had enough.
Fox 17's Garry Frank hit his tipping point this week as he sat next to co-hosts on the couch, leading into his forecast.
In a video clip posted online by WXMI, Anchor Mike Avery, Anchor Deanna Falzone, and Traffic Reporter Robb Westaby look to Meteorologist Garry Frank, who seemed filled with dread about the complaints he forecast to rain upon him.
The video starts with Frank saying, "It could be worse. It has been worse," which is never a great start for any situation.
The video transitions to a live picture of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Mumbles can be heard over the video and then Frank says, "Well, because you guys are dragging me down."
"Every time I get done with the seven-day, you guys are like, 'Ahhh, gosh, uggghhhhh,'" Frank says, still off-camera. "Every time. Doesn't matter what time I come on."
At this point, Frank enters the frame in front of the beautiful view of the Grand River.
Frank's face is scrunched, his brow furrowed, as he goes on what will likely go down in history as one of the epic weatherman rants of all time.
"4:30, 5:30, 6:30, and then you expect me to be chipper for five straight hours. It's miserable. I want you guys to say, 'Wow! That's great news. It's gonna be 60 on Friday!'
"Well, I mean, what do you want me to do, lie to you? I'll put 70 every day next time. Gah."
As Frank begins to scroll through graphics of local wind speeds and temperatures, he throws his hand toward the board and says, "here's some wind, here's some temperatures. 20s, feels like 19, feels like 70, I don't know," in the most uncaring voice he can muster.
"Here's a 60, I don't know if that's good enough for you guys. Get excited," Frank points out in his 3-day forecast. "Maybe I'll disappoint you with the 7-day here in a few minutes."
Once Frank steps out of the camera's view, the screen transitions to traffic, ushering in Traffic Reporter Robb Westaby, who peeks out from the left side asking, "Is he done?"
"That was terrifying," Westaby says, still leaning into view.
But there is a light at the end of Frank's gloomy, cold tunnel. His rant has gone viral with nearly 200,0000 views on Facebook.
