Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a person of interest believed to be connected to a violent robbery in Northeast D.C.

Investigators say the victim and the suspect involved in this robbery arranged to meet through an online dating app. However, when they met, the suspect attacked the victim and stole his money.

Police will not say which dating app was used, but they said the crime happened in the 1500 block of Neal Street in the Trinidad neighborhood late Saturday evening.

The victim told police the two were supposed to meet for money. But both men began to undress, and at some point, the victim says he felt uncomfortable and tried leaving. However, he was pushed back on the bed and restrained against his will.

It was then when the suspect threatened to bash the victim's head with a fire extinguisher. Both men ran outside and the suspect stole $200 from the victim's pocket and told him, "If you call the police, I will find you and slit your throat and your kids too."

The victim fled the scene and contacted police afterwards.
