Tractor-trailer crash cause major delay on I-95 in Howard County

A tractor-trailer crash caused major delay on Interstate 95 in Howard County early Monday morning.

Authorities say one person is dead after a dump truck and a tractor-trailer collided early Monday morning on a busy Maryland highway.

What we know:

The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. on southbound Interstate 95 prior to Route 100 in the Elkridge area of Howard County.

Investigators say the driver of the dump truck crashed into the rear of a parked tractor trailer. The driver of the dump truck was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was transported to an area hospital.

Southbound lanes of I-95 were closed for several hours. As of 11:42 a.m., two left lanes were open.

The crash remains under investigation.
