Teen makes violent threat on social media targeting Anne Arundel County high school

A 16-year-old is at an area hospital for evaluation after he reportedly made a threat on social media targeting an Anne Arundel County high school.

Police say they received the threat around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, targeting Northeast High School in Pasadena.

Police say they located the 16-year-old boy who posted the threat and met with him and his parents at their home in Glen Burnie.

They say the teen, who was not affiliated with the school, said that he meant the post as a joke and quickly deleted the post from his social media account.

Investigators say they found that the teen did not intend to carry out the threat and was not a danger to the school.

Police say charges are pending as the investigation continues and made additional officers available at the school throughout the day for further safety reassurance.
