Surveillance video shows car flip, men run during incident that damaged DC patrol vehicle
WASHINGTON - Police have released surveillance video that shows a car flipping over and two men running from the scene after an early morning incident last week in Southeast, D.C. that launched a manhunt and damaged patrol vehicle.
Police say the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. last Tuesday when they received a report of two men sleeping inside of a car near Barnaby Terrance and Wheeler Road. One of the men, officers say, reportedly had a gun on his lap while in the vehicle.
An officer arrived and approached the vehicle on foot to investigate. The driver of the vehicle sped off, side-swiping the police officer's patrol car before crashing into a barrier. The collision caused the vehicle to flip over onto its side.
Video shows the car flipping over and the men running from the scene. Police are offering a $1000 reward and ask anyone with information to call 202-727-9099.
