Prince William County cop needed to deploy Taser on Walmart suspect

A Prince William County police officer needed to use a Taser to subdue man who was screaming and damaging property inside a Manassas Walmart earlier in the week.

Police say the officer was responding to report of a disorderly customer at the store on Liberia Avenue when he encountered 64-year-old George Warren of Haymarket.

According to police, Warren was in front of the customer service counter.

Warren allegedly refused to comply when the officer tried to take him into custody.

When the officer deployed pepper spray, Warren allegedly lunged at him, striking him in the upper body.

The officer then used his Taser, gaining control over Warren after a brief struggle.

Warren was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital, and then released to the authorities.

He is being held without bond and faces charges including assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, destruction of property, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 26.
