Prince William Co. couple arrested after allegedly running over child with a Bobcat
GAINESVILLE, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - A Prince William County pair is facing criminal charges after one of them ran his 3-year-old child over with a Bobcat.
Police began investigating on March 15 shortly after noon.
According to police, 29-year-old Erin Renee Knox and 39-year-old Kenneth Albert Toone were operating a pair of Bobcats at a worksite in the 5400 block of Fallen Oaks in Gainesville when they incident occurred.
They say Toone and Knox were the only adults at the location.
While the pair were working, the child was seen lying on the ground after his father inadvertently ran him over.
The pair drove the boy to a local hospital where the medical staff determined that he had suffered significant internal injuries and needed to be flown to a trauma center.
Police believe the child will survive his injuries.
Investigators determined that the children's environment was unsafe.
The parents were charged with one count of felony child abuse.
Police did not know whether the parents remained in jail.
They did not know whether the children were in the parents' care.
