Prince George's County families struggle with major gas outage in Laurel

Crews continue to work feverishly to restore gas to a Prince George's County community as families struggle with the outage as it heads into its fifth day.

The gas outage, triggered by a water leak on Friday, impacted more than 400 families in Laurel, according to officials.

The areas affected by the outage included homes from 8th street to the east, Montrose Avenue to the south and Montgomery Street and Sandy Spring Road to the west.

According to the city of Laurel, the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company made repairs to more than half of the damaged gas mains and expected to have service restored to the majority of customers by Tuesday evening. Officials said some families could be without service until later in the week.

Until then, families continue to live without heat or hot water. If you are impacted by the outage and have questions, you can call the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company at 1-800-685-0123.
