Police seek suspects who shot Md. ice cream truck driver 9 times

EDMONSTON, Md. - An ice cream truck driver shot nine times by robbers in Prince George's County is expecting his first child. Mohamed Diaby remains in critical condition after the attack and the two gunmen are still on the loose.

The ambush happened around 6 p.m. on July 4 in a truck storage lot in the 5100 block of Buchanan Street in Edmonston.

"I want to tell them what they did is wrong," said Kaba Karamoko, Diaby's brother. "It's a man who tried to make ends meet, and they hate him."

Karamoko, who also drives an ice cream truck, said he and his family came to America from Guinea in West Africa for a better life.

"I'm feeling very, very sad," Karamoko said. "He's a good man, never had (any) problem."

Diaby's family said he was shot in the hands and legs. They said he was still unconscious Tuesday night, but that he is expected to recover.

His wife told FOX 5 that her baby is due soon.

At the lot where Diaby was shot, at least one other ice cream truck was hit by a bullet. What happened was heavy on the minds of everyone.

"Whoever did it probably don't have a heart" said Sheriff Bangura, a mechanic who works on Diaby's truck. "Everybody feels so bad about this whole thing. But we will pray for him. We will pray that God will lift him up, and he will come back."

Diaby's wife created a GoFundMe page for her husband's medical expenses.
