Police searching for man accused of exposing himself to children in Fairfax County

Fairfax County police are searching for a man who they say exposed himself to children on multiple occasions earlier this week.

Both incidents are alleged to have happened in the middle of the day on Richmond Highway near Alexandria, about three miles apart.

“We do understand the community’s concern when they do see juvenile victims,” said Sgt. James Curry. “Eventually we’re going to find this individual and bring him to justice.”

Details are scarce but investigators believe the man exposed himself to children on both Sunday and Monday. They said the Sunday incident occurred near the 7600 block of Richmond Highway. There was one child victim, and the suspect got away.

The Monday incident happened near the 8700 block of Richmond Highway, investigators said. This time, two kids were victimized, and once again, the man got away.

Police believe the two incidents are related and said they’re searching for a man in his 40s with short black hair.

“It’s disturbing and I hope they catch him because I have four kids and I live right up the road — a 10-year-old, a 6-year-old and twins, seven weeks old,” said Eric Reed, a concerned resident.

“He’s a pervert, whoever it is. I think it’s disrespectful to the children and people in the community to be exposing yourself. It’s just crazy," added Dwayne Johnson, who also lives nearby.
