Police: men violently attacks restaurant manager

Atlanta Police are searching for a couple of violent men who took out their rage on a restaurant manager.

Police said the unprovoked brutal attack occurred outside the City Winery restaurant at the Ponce City Market complex a couple of Monday's ago around nine at night.

"I mean it's just clearly unreasonable violence," said Sgt. Warren Pickard with the Atlanta Police Department.

Surveillance video shows two men attacking the manager. The series of punches and kicks begins when one man hits the manager in the face.

Police said the problems started inside the restaurant when the two became disruptive.

"They were disrupting the environment and they were asked to leave. They refused to leave and they were escorted out by security," said Sgt. Pickard.

Shopper and residents around the Ponce City Market Complex responded with disbelief and disgust when they saw the video.

"Things are just out of control. Why would you think that would be an OK response to anything? It's kind of like society is just disintegrating," said Shannon Smith.

Police said the disintegration started with the two men yelling obscenities, apparently drunk beyond reason inside the restaurant.

The manager we're told was attacked when security had already escorted the two out.

"When security was no longer paying attention, thought they had escorted them further enough off the premises they attacked the manager," said Sgt. Pickard.

A spokesman for City Winery said this was an isolated incident, adding the manager was bruised but otherwise OK.

Richard Angellar who was walking past the complex said it's important police catch the two men.

"They're violent and they're hurting people without warning," said Angellar.

Police said the violence prompted them to offer a $2,000 Crime Stoppers reward to find the duo, described only as white males in their early to late 20's.

"It's not acceptable behavior to be going around punching people because you drank too much and got kicked out of a bar," said Triston Babcock, who was at Ponce City Market shopping with his family.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
