Police investigating murder-suicide after man, woman found dead in Dumfries home

DUMFRIES, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Police are investigating a murder-suicide after a man and a woman were found dead inside a home in Prince William County Wednesday.

The shooting was reported around 10 a.m. in the 4000 block of Marjon Court in Dumfries.

Friends and family tell FOX 5 a Virginia woman had been having trouble with her husband so she and her children came to stay at a family member's home overnight. In the morning, they say her husband showed up and they got into an argument. Police say that's when the husband shot and killed his wife, then turned the gun on himself. Both the man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a family friend, at least one of the couple's young children was seen sitting in the front yard just after the shooting.

For now, the family who lives in the home is staying elsewhere.

FOX 5 is not reporting the names of anyone involved until police contact all next of kin and officially release their identities.
