Police: DC officer assaulted near Columbia Heights Metro station

WASHINGTON - D.C. police said an officer was assaulted near the Columbia Heights Metro station Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened in the 1400 block of Irving Street in Northwest D.C. at around 3:50 p.m.

There is a large police presence at the scene and the intersection in the area has been shut down.

Metro said this incident is not having an impact on service at the Metro station.
