Police arrest man suspected of spreading suspicious powder at Metro station
WASHINGTON - Metro service is back to normal operations and arrested a man suspected of spreading an unknown white powdery substance on a Southeast D.C. station bench.
Metro Transit police say they have located suspect, identified as 59-year-old Thomas S. Greene.
Greene is reportedly under arrest for multiple open warrants.
Police issued surveillance photos of the man suspected for his involvement.
Officials had suspended train service along a portion of the Orange, Silver, and Blue lines for their investigation and cleaning.
However, officials say the powdery substance was not found to be anything hazardous.
D.C. officials say a man, suspected to be Greene, sprinkled white powder on a bench, and was reported to authorities at around 10 a.m. at the Eastern Market station.
Officials say train service was suspended between Federal Center and Stadium-Armory, but it is now back up and running as normal.
No injuries were reported.
