Officials: Crews respond to apartment fire in District Heights, suspect in custody

Prince George's County fire crews responded to a two-alarm fire at an apartment building in District Heights Friday night.

Fire officials say when units arrived in the 6900 block of Walker Mill Road, they encountered a man who was acting erratically. They believe he may have been the person who started the fire. He was taken into custody by police and transported to the hospital. Officials say the man was not injured.

Four occupants of the building were assisted to safety, according to fire officials. No injuries were reported.

Fire inspectors and the Office of Emergency Management remain at the scene to conduct an investigation.
