Navy Yard marks 2 years since shooting with private memorial

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Officials at the Washington Navy Yard will be holding a private memorial on the second anniversary of the shooting there that killed 12 people.

Washington Navy Yard spokesman Brian Sutton says the memorial Wednesday will be for people who work at the Navy Yard as well as families of the victims.

Sutton says the memorial will be brief and include a moment of silence.

Wednesday marks two years since the shooting, in which military contractor Aaron Alexis fatally shot 12 people inside Building 197. The building has since been renamed the Humphreys Building.
