Man ran down woman with an SUV then shot her, and himself, Fairfax County police say

FALLS CHURCH, Va. - Fairfax County police investigators say they believe a man in Falls Church ran down a woman in an SUV and then got out and shot her, before turning the gun on himself on Tuesday.

Police have identified the man as 30-year-old Christopher Brooks, and the woman as 30-year-old Katherine Martell.

At this point, they believe the incident was a murder/suicide, and that there is no threat to the public.

They say the couple had a young child together.

They noted that the child is safe with a family member.

Police asked people to avoid the 3100 block of South Manchester Street while they investigated.
