Food truck catches fire in NW DC, 3 critically hurt

A food truck caught fire on the George Washington University campus in northwest DC Wednesday afternoon, leaving three workers critically injured.

It happened at 21st and H Streets NW. Fire crews say the call came in just after 2 pm. DC Fire and EMS tweeted that the three people who were burned were all workers on the food truck. They have been taken to a local hospital with critical injuries, but non life threatening injuries.

Photos posted on social media show The House of Falafel's food truck, The Falafel Bus, completely engulfed in flames.

There's no word yet on what caused the fire.

A witness told FOX 5 photojournalist Van Applegate that two women were badly hurt, and a man suffered minor injuries. The witness said a propane or gas tank exploded in the man's hands near the generator of the truck.

The George Washington University community has rallied together and created a go fund for the victims.
