Family of fatal hit-and-run victim speaks out: 'Justice for my dad'

An avid bicyclist was walking with his bike when he was struck by a driver who took off, police say. 

What we know:

64-year-old Michael McCorkle was fatally struck Wednesday evening in the 4500 block of Bowen Road in Southwest D.C..

Officials say McCorkle was coming from the store when he was struck and killed.

Police released video to FOX 5 showing the suspected vehicle. The car appeared to be a silver sedan.

D.C. police say its major crash investigations unit is working the case.

What they're saying:

McCorkle's daughter described the victim's death as shocking and unexpected. 

"I hope at some point someone would be able to identify the vehicle and give the police the information they need in order to get justice for my dad," said Angel McCorkle. 

She told FOX 5 her father loved riding his bicycle, running in marathons and dining at different restaurants.

What we don't know:

Police are still searching for the suspect, who police say hit McCorkle and left the scene.
