Fairfax woman's husband gifts her 8 winning lottery tickets for Mother's Day

A Fairfax woman may have received one of the best Mother's Day gifts ever!

On Sunday, the Virginia Lottery says Maria Sabarre's husband had eight winning tickets in May 12's Cash 5 drawing -- totaling $100,000 a piece or $800,000 in full. All eight tickets, which contained the same five numbers: 3-6-8-19-29, were selected at random at the Safeway located in Fairfax Towne Center.

He then gave Maria all eight tickets.

"He said, 'This is your Mother's Day gift,'" Sabarre told lottery officials. "It's surreal. He gave them to me because I just retired."

The lottery says Cash 5 drawings are held daily at 1:59 p.m. and 11 p.m. The odds of winning the $100,000 top prize are 1 in 278,256.
