DC area students rally at Capitol Hill in protest of gun violence

Students from around the DC area walked out of school and marched on Capitol Hill in protest of gun violence Thursday morning.

MoCo Students For Change called for students from around the DC region to walk out of school and protest in front of the White House and Congress.

The group said it is protesting "the Federal Government's lack of action on the deadly issue of gun violence."

Students are pushing for support of H.R. 8, which expands access to background checks for guns.

The walkout comes one year after a national walkout saw thousands of students across the country march out of their classrooms in protest of gun violence. Following the national walkout, thousands gathered in DC for the "March For Our Lives" rally to call for gun reform following the deadly Parkland high school shooting.
