Church pastor stabbed in Purcellville; son charged

The pastor of the Purcellville Baptist Church was stabbed during a domestic-related incident Monday afternoon, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Officers with the Purcellville Police Department and deputies with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office responded to a home in the 500 block of Canterbury Circle where they discovered Pastor David stabbed.

A male suspect fled the home, but was taken into custody a short distance away by an off-duty law enforcement officer.

The victim was airlifted from the scene and remains hospitalized. He is expected to fully recover.

The pastor's 19-year-old son, Jonathan Janney, was charged with aggravated malicious wounding.

A statement signed by Purcellville Baptist Church pastors and elders asked for prayers for the Janney family.

"Praise the Lord he is stable and receiving great care in the ICU," it stated.

Jonathan Janney is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
