It's that time of the week when we say "Cheers to the weekend!" Every Friday night, we invite a bartender or mixologist to share their signature cocktail.
John Carrabus, Mid-Atlantic sales manager and cocktail specialist for One Eight Distilling, joined us to make a "Kumquat May."
Cocktail: Kumquat May
- 2 oz. Ivy City Gin
- 3/4 oz. Kumquat Simple Syrup
- 1/2 oz. Lime Juice
- Fever Tree Bitter Lemon soda
Combine gin, syrup, and lime juice in shaker with ice and shake. Strain into rocks glass with ice and top with Bitter Lemon. Cut a fresh kumquat in half and squeeze over cocktail and drop in.
To make kumquat simple syrup:
Combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, 1/2 cup fresh kumquat. Bring to a boil and then lower heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and cool completely before use.
