Arrest made after same saxophone stolen twice from Northwest store, DC police say
WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - DC police were already working on a noteworthy heist - when the case of the stolen saxophone hit a familiar refrain early Sunday morning.
The saxophone was initially stolen from a Northwest music store on Thursday.
The instrument was promptly returned the next day, but on Sunday morning, the store's owners discovered it missing again.
Police provided surveillance video of a burglar breaking into the store early Thursday in the 4500 block of Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest - and the store owners provided a second video on Sunday morning.
In the video, you can see the thief forego the cash register and other valuables in favor of a saxophone before fleeing.
On Tuesday, with the assistance of the Metro Transit Police, 55-year-old Vincent Stewart Hamond was arrested in connection with the burglaries. He has been charged with two counts of Burglary Two.
