5 injured in serious multi-vehicle crash in Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Fire officials say five people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Alexandria.
Five vehicles were involved in the accident that happened on Richmond Highway (Route 1) at Buckman Road at around 4 p.m. Friday.
Police say all of the victims involved in the crash were taken to the hospital, with one of the them being airlifted. Two of the victims were transported with life-threatening injuries while the other three had non-life-threatening injuries. But all of them are expected to survive.
Fairfax County police's crash reconstruction unit were called to the scene to investigate.
Police say a vehicle traveling northbound on Route 1 crossed over the center line and struck another vhiecle head-on causing three other vehicle to crash.
Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.
All lanes on Richmond Highway were reopened just before 7 p.m.
