Howard County police are investigating the deaths of two adults found inside an overturned vehicle in the Little Patuxent River off of Route 108 in Ellicott City.

Police said a pedestrian walking on a nature path in the area at around 12:50 p.m. Friday discovered a 2006 Acura TL mostly submerged in water and called police.

Emergency crews pulled the vehicle from the water a few hours later.

The two victims have been identified as 35-year-old Timothy Antonio Jones, of Baltimore, and 23-year-old Rickell Tareka Brown, of Columbia, police said.

According to investigators, it is believed the vehicle went off an overpass on westbound Route 108 near Columbia Road and landed in the river early Friday morning. Police are trying to determine what exactly what led the car to leave the road.

Police have confirmed that this incident is not connected to the severe flooding that Ellicott City experienced nearly two weeks ago.
