13th anniversary of DC-area sniper attacks
WASHINGTON - Friday marks the 13th anniversary of the D.C.-area sniper attacks. The shootings began around 6 p.m. on October 02, 2002, in Wheaton, Md. and set off a frantic manhunt lasting three weeks.
John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo were arrested on October 24th and were later charged. In all, there were 10 killings and three non-fatal shootings.
Muhammad was executed in 2009.
Malvo was sentenced to life in prison where he remains.
