On Pointe: A DC Ballet Story

A FOX 5 special sharing the story of Jones-Haywood Dance School, a ballet school in Washington, DC has been training ballerinas for over 80 years. Named after its founders, Doris Jones and Claire Haywood, the dance school has created dance stars that have gone on to perform professionally. FOX 5 DC spoke to the current owner, Sandra Fortune-Green, an alumnus of the school who later went on to dance professionally in the FOX Local Original. Fortune-Green alongside students, parents and teachers, opened up about the impact this school has had on their lives and how this intimate dance school has fostered life-long connections among their dance community.
