A Northern Virginia man is behind bars, accused of killing his 3 month old daughter, Fairfax County police said.

A northern Virginia man is in custody, accused of killing his 3‑month‑old daughter in Fairfax County, police said.

Police identified the suspect as 28‑year‑old Misael Lopez Gomez, who is being held without bond.

Officers were called to an apartment on the 3400 block of Lake Street in Bailey’s Crossroads late Friday for a report of an unresponsive infant.

Police said the baby was in Gomez’s care when officers arrived and found her not breathing. She was taken to a hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.

Father charged with murder in death of 3-month-old daughter in Fairfax County

Misael Lopez Gomez, 28, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and felony child abuse after his 3-month-old daughter was found unresponsive. Authorities say the infant died from blunt force trauma. Anyone with information is urged to contact Fairfax County Police.

Medical staff told investigators they found signs of abuse, and the medical examiner later determined the child died from blunt‑force trauma, Stone says.

Gomez was arrested and charged with second‑degree murder and felony child abuse. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Wednesday.
