A Maryland mother was shot by her boyfriend while holding their baby during an argument over school supplies.
BOWIE, Md. - A Maryland father is facing multiple charges after allegedly shooting his girlfriend and mother of his six kids during an argument over school supplies, court documents revealed.

Kimball Hinton, 41, was arrested on the front lawn of his Bowie home in the 8500 block of Myrtle Avenue Thursday evening after he allegedly shot the 38-year-old mother in the head as she was sitting on her bed holding their 2-month-old.

Hinton is charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and gun offenses.
Court documents detail how the couple was arguing over their inability to provide back-to-school supplies for their children. The couple's six kids, ranging in age from two months to 16 years old, were home at the time.
According to court documents, during the argument, one of the children tried to intervene, but Hinton reached into his pocket, pulled out a gun and fired two shots at his girlfriend. She was found on the floor of the master bedroom.
One of the children called 911 around 4:15 p.m. and said, "My mother was shot by my father."
Two minutes later, Hinton allegedly called police and said, "I shot her…the gun is in the mailbox."
Officers arrived to find Hinton outside the home. He was arrested without incident. He later told Bowie police that he had "every opportunity to leave the situation," but didn't.
Police also said they recovered a gun wrapped in a bloody towel. Hinton was prohibited from having a firearm due to previous convictions.
What's next:
The woman remains hospitalized and on a respirator. Her mother drove up from North Carolina to be with her, and the children are with social services.
Hinton is being held without bond and has a court date scheduled for next week.
