The Brief

    • The social media platform X is reportedly down for users on Monday.
    • Downdector reported a high volume of outages in multiple cities, including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

X, formerly known as Twitter, appears to be experiencing an outage on Monday.

What we know:

As of 8:30 a.m. ET on Monday, over 40,000 users reported issues with X, according to Downdetector, which tracks live service outages.

The outages are occurring in the United States, with high numbers reported in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, Minneapolis and the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Downdetector noted.

X’s Developer Platform Status page stated "all systems are operational" throughout Monday morning amid the various outage reports.

What we don't know:

The cause of the outage on the popular social media platform is unknown at this time.
