Former economic development official jailed on embezzlement charges

FRONT ROYAL, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - A woman who once spearheaded economic development in Front Royal and Warren County is now behind bars facing embezzlement charges.

Virginia State Police arrested Jennifer McDonald last Friday. She is being held without bond.

Prosecutors say she misused funds between 2014 and last year while she worked with the Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority.

The authority filed a $17 million civil embezzlement lawsuit against McDonald and several other people.
