Fireworks display at Catholic University sparks large brush fire in Northeast DC, officials say
WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - DC Fire crews battled a very large brush fire in Northeast Friday night after reports of a nearby fireworks display at Catholic University.
The fire, which has since been put out, started in the area of N. Capitol Street and Scalegate Road NE at around 7:42 p.m. Approximately five acres were involved, according to officials.
DC Fire said they operated with several units, including their brush truck.
A brush unit from Montgomery County was also requested.
At around 8:42 p.m., officials said all visible signs of the fire had been extinguished. No injuries have been reported.
