4 year-old saves grandfather suffering heart attack
CLEAR LAKE, Minn - When you're four years old, your grandpa is usually your hero, but for Lyric Knighten it's the other way around, after he saved his beloved grandfather's life.
Dave Berrier, a grandfather of 11 at just 48 years old, didn't feel well and was experiencing chest pain when he decided to lay down in his Clear Lake, Wisconsin home.
He told reporters, "I got tired, I came in the house, and I laid down. I didn't feel right."
Luckily Lyric wanted to play with his grandfather.
Lyric explained, "I jumped on him and said, 'Wake up, wake up!'"
When the former firefighter woke up, his chest pains had gotten worse. It turns out he was having a massive heart attack with three blockages.
"If I wouldn't have woke up I would have died there," Dave said.
Dave made it to his local hospital just in time and was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota where doctors placed three stents in his heart.
Berrier's doctor told FOX 9, "He actually saved his granddad's life."
With plenty of rest and healthy lifestyle changes, Dave will be ready to play with Lyric again soon.
It looks like not all heros wear capes.
