3 dead after fire in Anne Arundel County group home

Three people have died after a fire broke out overnight in a group home in Anne Arundel County, investigators say.

Anne Arundel County officials say it happened just before 11 p.m. Saturday in the 7900 block of Stone Hearth Road in Severn.

According to fire officials, four people had got out from the home on the own and told firefighters who had arrived that someone was possibly still inside.

Firefighters went into the burning home, which was operated by Arundel Lodge and found three adults -- two male residents and one female staff member, who all had died in the fire, investigators say.

Anne Arundel County fire says the fire was extinguished in about an hour by 45 firefighters from Anne Arundel County, Fort Meade and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. They also say there were working smoke detectors in the home.

Special Agents from the ATF Baltimore Field Office say they are assisting Anne Arundel County Fire with their investigation.
