Top stories this morning: The Southern Poverty Law Center is facing federal fraud charges, accused of improperly raising millions of dollars and secretly paying leaders of the Ku Klux Klan and other hate groups for inside information. The organization says the program was used to monitor threats of violence and that information was shared with law enforcement. Also making headlines, a U.S. Special Forces soldier has made his first court appearance after prosecutors accused him of illegally profiting from the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Federal authorities say he used classified information to place bets through an online prediction market and made more than $400,000.
