Senate stalemate keeps SAVE Act in limbo
With the SAVE Act still stalled in the Senate and a federal judge blocking President Trump's executive order requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration, election integrity remains a flashpoint ahead of the 2026 midterms. Texas Public Policy Foundation's Josh Findley argues states can still strengthen voter ID and election security measures on their own, says the proposed reforms could be implemented before November, and contends Senate procedural rules—particularly the filibuster—are the biggest obstacle to advancing the legislation.
