Man accused of killing National Guard member in DC makes first court appearance

The man accused of shooting two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., killing one of them, made his first court appearance. A judge granted prosecutors’ request to keep the suspect behind bars as they prepare for a detention hearing. He waived his right to a preliminary hearing and is being represented by a public defender. He is scheduled to return to court on January 15.
