If you?re receiving unemployment benefits, should you have to pay income taxes on that money?

Legislation was introduced in the DC Council to make unemployed residents exempt from income tax. At-Large Councilmember Elissa Silverman says they want the public to weigh in on how it should work. But some, including Mark Lee, the furloughed Director of the D.C. Nightlife Council, says the councilmembers need to take action more quickly and be sure to include unemployment benefits received in 2020.
