Amtrak makes case in court for takeover of Union Station

Amtrak is presenting its case for taking control of D.C.'s Union Station today. According to the Washington Post, Amtrak argued that an immediate takeover of the station’s leasing rights, which is controlled by a private company, is necessary to modernize the nation’s second-busiest inter-city train hub. The case is in part a response to a rise in vacancies and a drop in ridership.
