Massive sinkhole swallows cars in Woodbridge, police say

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (FOX 5 DC) -- A massive sinkhole opened up in a Woodbridge neighborhood on the Fourth of July, swallowing at least two cars, according to a resident in the area.

FOX 5 viewer Ulises Marquetti shared photos of the sinkhole with us on Twitter.

Police in Prince William County say a call came in about the sinkhole at around 6:15 p.m. in the area of Princedale Drive and Roundtree Drive.

The road is currently closed and police say they are uncertain about when it may reopen.

For safety reasons, police are telling residents in the area to avoid approaching the sinkhole, to avoid taking pictures and to avoid catching a glimpse as the area around it may still be unstable and is hazardous.
