DC LGBT community center vandalized; worker assaulted
WASHINGTON - Police are investigating after a D.C. lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community center was vandalized and a staff member was assaulted Sunday.
The incident happened Sunday afternoon at the Casa Ruby LGBT Community Center in the northwest. Several people witnessed the attack and surveillance video from the center captured images of the suspect.
Staff at the multicultural center spent the evening boarding up the doors and cleaning up broken glass following the attack. Founder Ruby Corado tells FOX 5 this is the third time in two weeks someone has vandalized their property.
Ruby says, D.C. Police Chief Newsham went to the center on Sunday evening to reassure her they will work diligently to have this suspect arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
