17-year-old girl shot in NE DC dies

A 17-year-old girl shot Thursday in northeast D.C died on Saturday, according to police. Jamahri Sydnor was shot at around 3:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Saratoga Avenue on Thursday.

Officials found Sydnor and an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived on scene.
A 21-year-old male was arrested and charged with assault with intent to kill by gun.

Sydnor had recently graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School.

"She was a member of our choir and a cheerleader. She has had a tremendously positive impact on all who know her," said Woodrow Wilson High School Principal Kimberly Martin.

The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the homicide.
