D.C. man charged with murder in fatal Minnesota Avenue bus stop shooting

Authorities have charged 47-year-old William Louis Chase Jr. with first-degree murder after he allegedly shot 27-year-old Yeferson Moreno-Gimenez to death at a Northeast D.C. bus stop. Minutes later, Chase fired toward a bystander outside a nearby shopping center before a responding officer shot and critically injured him with a patrol rifle. Chase remains hospitalized while the Metropolitan Police Department's Internal Affairs Bureau and the U.S. Attorney’s Office conduct an investigation into the police shooting.
