Workplace incivility costs employers billions as workers seek political neutrality

New research from SHRM finds workplace incivility is taking a significant toll on productivity, costing U.S. organizations an estimated $2.6 billion a day. Carolynn Johnson, who heads up SHRM's Center for Inclusion & Diversity, tells Jim Lokay on The Final 5 that their survey found 74% of workers recently witnessed or experienced incivility, while 87% want their employers to remain politically neutral. The research also points to a generational divide, with differences between age groups now cited as a bigger workplace issue than politics.
