Hawaii’s Kilauea spews streams of hot lava in latest eruption

The backstory:
The volcano is one of the world’s most active. It has been erupting periodically since Dec. 23, 2024, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The agency has also recorded recent increases in earthquakes in the immediate area of the volcano, logging about 40 since Wednesday.
The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory continues to monitor the activity closely.
