PHOENIX (AP) — A Phoenix woman who said she hit her boyfriend with her car after he said he had the AIDS virus and laughed about it has been sentenced to 6.5 years in prison.
A judge on Thursday sentenced 54-year-old Misty Wilke, who previously pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and leaving the scene of a crime.
The incident occurred on a street near a park where the couple argued April 29.
Witnesses said they saw Wilke driving her car in circles around the victim before accelerating and hitting him as he tried to get away on his bicycle.
Wilke afterward drove to a gas station where she parked her car and got a ride to her house. She then contacted police.
The boyfriend suffered head and back injuries.
