MPD Officer arrested, charged with DUI while on duty

WASHINGTON - A Metropolitan Police Officer was arrested early Sunday morning after he was found to be under the influence while on duty.

Arthur Thompson was taken into custody at around 2:20 a.m. in the 1400 block of 18th Street in Southeast after a supervisor responding to a citizen's complaint about him discovered he was impaired.

Officer Thompson has been with the Metropolitan Police Department for four years. At this time, his police powers have been revoked, and the incident is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department Internal Affairs Division.
