4 stabbed, 2 shot in deadly overnight DC violence that left man dead

A man is dead in northeast D.C. and several other victims are recovering from injuries after a violent night in the District which involved four stabbings and two shootings.

The deadly shooting happened around 11:45 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Rhode Island Avenue. Investigators say an adult male identified as 24-year-old Tony Jermaine Gates, of Southeast, DC, died after suffering gunshot wounds. Officers have no suspect information or a motive at this time. Streets in the area were shut down while officers investigated.

A short time later, police say they responded to a shooting in the 1500 block of Tubman Road in the southeast. The victim, an adult male, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police also responded to four overnight stabbings - one in the northeast along the 1800 block of D Street - and three in the northwest - at 16th and Lamont Streets, Georgia Avenue and Blair Road, and in the 1700 block of Columbia Road.

Police say the victims in the stabbings were adult males and all are expected to survive.

None of the incidents are believed to be related at this time.
