Vegas shooting victim showing signs of improvement, serenaded by 'Nashville' star

- A Maryland native who was wounded during the Las Vegas shooting massacre is showing positive signs of improvement as she continues to recover in the hospital. She also received a special visit from one of the stars of the television show “Nashville.”

According to a GoFundMe page that has raised over $500,000 for Tina Frost, the 27-year-old woman is still in a non-medically induced coma, but is responding to commands during physical therapy.

On Tuesday, actor Charles Esten stopped by the hospital to visit Frost. A message posted on the GoFundMe page said:

Tina started her day out being serenaded by Deacon from the show Nashville. He was so sweet and came by to sing 3 songs and even left her an autograph. She's going to be so excited when she sees the autograph; she records the show every week and went to Nashville with Austin back in May. Tina had a few more special visitors from the fire department and police station who came by to check in on Tina. Later this morning, Tina had another physical therapy session where she was sat up on the bed. Tina kicked her legs back and forth when asked, stopped when asked, and then kicked again when asked! She also held her head up a little more independently today, showcasing her neck strength. These are great signs that we're all excited about. The doctors paused the ventilator again today after PT and Tina exercised her lungs for another 2 hours. She also keeps wiggling her toes around trying to get comfy in her bed. We're still waiting on a reassuring hand squeeze from Tina, but we've had some wins yesterday and today. Just like we tell Tina when we're cheerleading her to keep breathing - slow and steady wins the race.

Another message on the GoFundMe page on Wednesday night said Frost was able to make even more progress in her recovery as she was able to follow her nurse's commands to squeeze her hands and move her toes. Frost also received a visit from Mark Kelly, former NASA astronaut and husband of former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.

Frost grew up in Anne Arundel County in Maryland and graduated from Arundel High School, where he was a standout soccer player.

Frost currently resides in San Diego and was attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas with her boyfriend and a group of friends. She suffered devastating injuries during the tragic shooting.

“The bullet went through her right eye and traveled into her forehead,” said family friend Amy Klinger. “She had to have three hours of surgery at which time they removed her right eye. And her forehead was shattered.”

Frost’s long-term prognosis is still unclear as is the extent of her brain damage.
